Empower Accounting and Consulting, LLC is owned and operated by Laura Nunn, Independent Consultant and Aspiring CPA. Empower Accoutning and Consulting was founded in March 2023 with the vision set out to grow a niche firm that will empower women to take time off of work without the stress and burden of finding a quality "temp" to fill in while they tend to their family needs. Beginning in January 2024, Colorado  employees will have access to FAMLI, a State program that will provide CO employees with long over due family paid time off. The demand for temp coverage will skyrocket. As a working professional, loving wife, mother of 2, only daughter, sister to 6 brothers, favorite auntie, and more, Laura understands first hand the stress  that comes with needing to take time off of work to tend to family matters and how difficult it can be to find quality temporary accounting help in the Denver market.

Born in Santa Fe, NM and raised in rual Weld County, Colorado on a Turkery farm, Laura brings resilency, grit, and whit to her trade. She has over 13 years of accounting experience mixed in public audit, corporate accounting, private equity, government accounting, and consulting work. Laura is a recovering corporate accountant, who held various roles as a Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, Senior Audit Associate, and Assistant Controller. With a Bacholor of Sciene degree in Accounting, and Associate of Science in Entreprenuership from Johnson & Wales University, it was destined for Laura to start her own firm. For now, she is a one woman show, but plans to build the firm and add 3-5 employees in the next 3 years.
